Help Ban EDCs

In a major push for prevention, Breast Cancer UK recently launched a nationwide campaign calling on the UK Government to take decisive action against Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs)—substances widely present in everyday products that interfere with hormone systems and may increase the risk of breast cancer.

What are EDCs and Why They Matter

Help Ban EDCs

EDCs (or hormone-disrupting chemicals) are synthetic compounds that can mimic or block natural hormones in the body. Many are persistent in the environment and bioaccumulate over time.

Evidence suggests that exposure—even at low levels over long periods—may contribute to the development of hormone-sensitive cancers such as breast cancer.

The Campaign: What Breast Cancer UK is Demanding

The central aim of the campaign is to ban or phase out EDCs in consumer products and tighten regulations to prevent them entering the market.

Looking Ahead

The coming months will be pivotal. If the campaign gains political momentum, it could lead to new regulations, safer consumer products, and a stronger defence against hormone-linked cancers.

You can pledge your support here and encourage family and friends to do the same.
